Although all of the schools we support are run with great dedication, this school stands out in particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The headmaster welcomes us warmly and proudly shows us around the grounds. Despite the holiday season, almost all of the schoolchildren are present \u2013 they are studying for exams or actively helping to expand the school. Particularly impressive: the children build their own classrooms. The headmaster provides the materials, and the children make bricks, dry them and use them to build new rooms. One child has specialised in welding and makes window grilles and shelves. The children also grow their own fruit and vegetables \u2013 they currently earn LKR 4,000 a month from this, with the aim of increasing this to LKR 20,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here, education is combined with practical initiative \u2013 an inspiring example of solidarity and personal responsibility in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
