Kimbissa Sigirya

The kindergarten in Kimbissa was our fist Lanka-Help project. In 1990 did we build this kindergaten and playground.In the meantime has the kindergarten grown and new furniture was needed. Lanka-Help covers not only all running cost such as school supplies, electricity and repairs, but also pays the salaries of both teachers as well as a yearly excursion, gifts and the celebrations for Children’s Day, christmas and Sri-Lanka-New-Year (celebrated in april).

Since 2009 we do provide start backpacks, cutlery and waterbottles to the children. This support helps the financial situation of the families, therefore disadvantaged children will also be able tho visit the kindergarten without a financial burden. Roughly 60 children were by then in this preschool.

On our trip in spring 2022 we also visited the kindergarten Kimbissa/Sigiriya. We are warmly welcomed by the teachers and the 39 children who are currently attending the kindergarten. The two teachers thanked us for continuing to pay wages during the corona-related school closures. It made her life a lot easier.
